Zoe ~ One of a Kind ~ Scraps of Elegance

Hello again!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing Project #4 with the March Scraps of Elegance Kit "Hello, Beautiful."  And what a beautiful Kit it is! These warm, earth tones get my creative juices flowing!

Quick story! As I was creating this fun layout, I had a totally different photo chosen, printed, cropped and matted. At the very last moment, I decided to try a new one of sweet granddaughter Zoe.  The crisp black and white along with her sweet expression was a more perfect choice! Moral of the story: last minute changes can be a good thing! So don't be afraid to branch out.

I kind of went "old school" on this one and brought out a punch and my distress tool to customize the edges of the peachy Josephine paper from Graphic 45s Portrait of a Lady collection included in the Main Kit.  I layered it over the pretty floral Catherine paper. The vertical strip is from the Blanche paper as are the photo mat layers. Of course, there are some layers of fussy cut flowers from the Victoria papers along with a few Cardstock die cuts included in the Main Kit.

I misted some of the Prima florals from the Floral add-on and incorporated some of the Petaloo flowers (also, Floral Add-on) as well as the Craft Consortium Resin Flowers from the Elements add-on. I couldn't resist adding a shabby chic Prima resin clock from my stash. Using the Cardstock Sticker sheet, I added Zoe's name along with some of the word phrases here and there. Note the glass beads which were included in the Creativity add-on. Some were painted with white gesso while others were colorized to green using the green gelato in the same add-on. Also, the Adhesive gems from the Main Kit made for some nice bling to scatter around. They look like wet dew on the roses.

A little close-up of those beads and gems. You might note that I also incorporated a piece of chipboard from my stash to use for anchoring my photo.

The Heidi Swapp stamp set is such a great one! Although my elements went a little outside of my original boundaries, the stamp still added a nice subtle subtitle.

I love how all the florals work together in this Kit! Melinda has a great eye for co-ordintating elements but this is just over the top this month! To bring focus to main cluster, I used the Iced Rose gelato from the Creativity add-on and went all the way around my central elements with color.

My dimensional shot!

And from this side!

Although the Main Kit is sold out, I believe there are still some add-ons in the store that you can grab! For example, you can find the Graphic 45 papers right HERE.  While you're there, do some shopping and check out the Kit subscriptions!

Thanks for dropping by today!
We appreciate your support!

Altered Clock ~ March Scraps of Elegance

Hello, hello!

Sandi here with you today sharing another project from the March Scraps of Elegance Kit "Hello, Beautiful!" This Kit was full of gorgeous papers and embellishments .. as always. In particular, it features Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady papers that are full of vintage charm and wonderful images and colors.

I decided to take a break from layouts and created something altered. The Tim Holtz clock was included as an Off the Page in the February Scraps of Elegance Kit and was still laying unused next to my scrap table. So, I decided it would be a fun project to try and see if I could adapt it for these papers.

I first covered it with white gesso and then with Glass Beads texture gel. Then, I set about misting with a variety of greens and golds. The green seemed to want to dominate and I was okay with that. However, I used the Viva Cinnamon Color from the Color Add-on on the bells and added some vintage photo ink and patina powder.

My primary background paper was from the Portrait of a Lady sheet in the Co-ordinating Paper add-on. Using the back of the clock as a guide, I cut a circle around the image and glued it on using the Honey Medium from the Creativity Add-on. I also decoupaged that over the top of the paper with a bit of the Caramel Gelato mixed in the Honey Medium ... for color.

The inside of the Clock is lined with florals from the Kit, the Floral Add-on and with flowers from my stash. I also included a random feather and a piece of chipboard from the Elements add-on.
I wanted to use the Prima Memory Hardware jeweled trinkets from the Elements add-on and rummaged through my stash to find some hardware to hang them. They are hooked to one of the upper stems. The chandelier was also from my stash but I added it for a finishing touch.  That little "Happiness" title was from the Sticker sheet found in the Main Kit.

More Patina and flowers on the sides.

It was hard to get great photos once I put the glass front back in place but I took this close-up to give you and idea of the inside contents which also includes some of the yummy gold floral lace from the Elements add-on.

Here are the Memory Hardware pieces.  They are so pretty.

Just a little view of the opposite side to show you the remainder of the flowers.

This was originally going to be my primary project photo but I opted to go with the first photo above because I thought it had a bit more character.

I guess that's about it for today!
Time to finish my taxes!

See you soon!

Lucy ~ Scraps of Elegance March Kit

Hello, everyone!

It's Sandi here with you again today to share another project using the fabulous March Scraps of Elegance Kit "Hello, Beautiful!"

My favorite colors are earth tones.  Green, peach, rust, teal, cream, gold ... colors usually associated with Fall. So, the Graphic 45 Portrait of a Lady papers are so "me." When a kit contains these colors it makes it a real pleasure for me to create!
So, this time I went with a green base with gold text writing, the Alexandra paper. Then I tore long strips of the Grace paper as well as the ScrapBerry Album paper and layered these. After applying gel medium on both sides, I began a small amount of mixed media work .. mainly gesso, mist and beads.

I did lots of fussy cutting of one of the Victoria papers to have some extra floral embellies. Those roses are so pretty! I've added lots of layers here including Kit parts as well as a couple of things from my stash such as chipboard and microbeads. I loved mixing the flowers and tucking in some phrases from the Portrait of a Lady Cardstock sticker sheet as well as a few floral buttons and tags from the Chipboard sheet.

This close-up is from a little further down the page where I tucked in some of that yummy gold Prima lace from the Elements add-on. For my Lucy title, I simple used some alphas from the Cardstock sticker sheet found in the Kit.

Just to create a little more texture, I've added a piece of chipboard from my stash and embossed it with aged gold embossing powder. Here you can see the fussy cutting and floral layering. Because I had some white gesso nearby, I outlined my fussy cut flowers with it. Several more Graphic 45 Chipboard pieces were worked in.

Because I already had that die cut doily on my desk, I tucked it on as a photo layer as well.  More flowers and microbeads .. and when I was all done, some splattering of white gesso.

The upper right hand side of the photo framing.

I always like to take a few angled shots to show you the dimension, so here is the first one.

Last one!

Elegant Lady ~ Scraps of Elegance March Kit

Hello there, Scraps of Elegance fans!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my first project using the March Scraps of Elegance Kit "Hello, Beautiful!" And wow, this kit really is so gorgeous!

I was super excited when I found out that the featured paper this month would be Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady! And of course, it did not disappoint!

I decided to scrap a bridal photo of my niece, Karen for my first project. Stripes and florals used together are always a winning combination, so I've used the Catherine paper as my base and layered some floral paper, Victoria. Isn't it divine? For photo layers, I've used the dark green back side of Catherine as well as the light green from Scrapberry's Camera. I also may a few die cut paper doilies from cream Graphic 45 card stock from my stash.

It was so fun to start choosing embellishments from the Main Kit and Elements Kit add-ons such as the beautiful gold Prima Floral Lace. If you look closely, you can also spy the Prima Vintage Trinket to the left of my photo. Those Memory Hardware pieces are amazing! I lined mine with some of the Victoria paper. For flowers, I've used Prima flowers from the main kit but also Prima and Petaloo from the Floral add-on Kit!

The Portrait of a Lady chipboard pieces are gorgeous and are from the Elements add-on Kit. I tied this one with some twine that was wrapped around a bundle of flowers in the Main Kit.  The addition of some petals balances it off and keeps it feminine.

This is more of the same although I did add in some pearls. My mixed media is very light on this project. Just some light stenciling and then the addition of lots of Art Stones from my stash.

This is going towards the upper right hand corner of the page where I've used the florals as layers and added some thread and art stones from my stash.

Just a quick dimensional shot!

And one more from the other side!

Although this kit is sold out, we have lots of great products in the Scraps of Elegance Store.  You'll want to check everything out while you're getting info about subscribing for any of the Kits!

Okay, I'm ready to get back to my scrap table! How about you?
Thanks for coming by!
